Candidates must possess an excellent academic record and fulfil the prescribed qualifications and experience requirements.

Professor

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• A Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline.
• First Division in the preceding degree or equivalent qualification.
• An excellent academic record throughout their professional career.

Experience Requirement

Candidates should have at least:

• 10 years of teaching, research and/or industrial experience.

Out of this, at least:

• 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc, IIMs, IISERs or an equivalent institution.

Associate Professor

Essential Qualification

Candidates should possess:

• A Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline.
• First Division in the preceding degree or equivalent.
• An excellent academic record.

Experience Requirement

Candidates should have:

• A minimum of 6 years of teaching, research and/or industrial experience.

Out of this:

• At least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor in an Institution of National Importance, reputed institute or equivalent organization.

Assistant Professor Grade-I

Essential Qualification

• A Ph.D. in the appropriate discipline.

Experience Requirement

Candidates should have at least:

• 3 years of teaching, research and/or industrial experience after the Ph.D.

Assistant Professor Grade-II

Career Progression for Assistant Professor Grade-II

Candidates selected as Assistant Professor Grade-II without post-Ph.D. experience will normally follow the prescribed career progression.

Initial Appointment

• Pay Level 10
• Minimum Basic Pay: ₹70,900

After One Year

Eligible candidates may be elevated to:

• Pay Level 11
• Minimum Basic Pay: ₹73,100

After Three Years

After a performance review, candidates may be elevated to:

• Assistant Professor Grade-I

Career Progression for Assistant Professor Grade-I

Candidates appointed as Assistant Professor Grade-I may move to:

Additional Financial Support for New Faculty Members

IIT Jodhpur provides several financial and professional support facilities to newly joining faculty members.

1. Relocation Expense Reimbursement

Faculty members joining IIT Jodhpur may receive reimbursement of relocation expenses according to Institute norms.

Candidates Joining from Within India

For candidates joining from Government, Autonomous or similar institutions, reimbursement will be governed by the applicable Government rules.

Candidates Joining from Other Locations in India

Reimbursement of up to:

₹1,50,000 or actual expenses, whichever is lower

may be available.

2. Telephone Bill Reimbursement

3. Cumulative Professional Development Allowance

₹3 lakh for every block period of three years

4. Research Initiation Grant

New faculty members may receive a:

Research Initiation Grant of up to ₹25 lakh

5. International Mobility Research Grant

Assistant Professors may receive an International Mobility Research Grant of up to ₹5 lakh.

The grant is intended to support:
