About the Fellowship
The Janeway Institute Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is designed for early-career researchers interested in conducting cutting-edge research in transmission mechanisms and economic policy. The fellowship is initially funded for three years, although candidates may request a shorter appointment of one or two academic years if it better aligns with their career plans.
Research areas include, but are not limited to:
- Transmission mechanisms in macroeconomics
- Economic policy
- Aggregate economy and firm behavior
- Household and firm heterogeneity
- Economic growth
- Monetary policy
- Fiscal policy
- Closed and open economy analysis
- Other factors influencing long-term economic development
Fellows will be based at the Janeway Institute and may also have the opportunity to join a Cambridge College. The fellowship aims to support researchers capable of producing internationally recognized research and publications in leading economics journals.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should:
- Hold a PhD in Economics or expect to receive their doctoral degree by September 2027.
- Demonstrate strong research potential in economics.
- Show the ability to develop independent research ideas.
- Explain how their research aligns with the Janeway Institute's research programme.
- Possess an excellent academic record and publication potential.
Salary & Benefits
Successful candidates who have not yet received their PhD will initially be appointed as Research Assistants (Grade 5) with a salary starting from £34,610 per annum.
After obtaining the PhD, candidates will be promoted to Research Associate (Grade 7) with salaries progressing as follows:
- Year 1: £37,694
- Year 2: £38,784
- Year 3: £39,906
