About Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)

The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) is India's apex research funding organization established to strengthen research, innovation, and scientific excellence across the country. ANRF supports high-impact research programmes, promotes collaboration between academia and industry, and encourages scientific leadership that contributes to national development.

The Prime Minister Professorship (PM Professorship) is a prestigious initiative launched by ANRF to leverage the expertise of distinguished scientists and academicians for strengthening research and innovation in emerging higher educational institutions, especially State Universities.

Programme Overview

Eligibility Criteria

Applications/Nominations are invited for:

• Superannuated (Retired) faculty members and scientists from reputed Indian or foreign universities and research laboratories.
• NRIs (Non-Resident Indians).
• PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin).
• OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India).
• Industry experts working in Science & Technology domains.

Important Notes

• Existing Prime Minister Professors are not eligible to apply under the current call.
• Institutions that have already hosted a Prime Minister Professor cannot nominate another candidate under the current call.

Selection Process

Eligible proposals will be evaluated by ANRF through its prescribed review and evaluation mechanism. Selection will be based on:

• Academic excellence.
• Research achievements.
• Scientific leadership.
• Contribution to research and innovation.
• Suitability of the proposed host institution.
• Overall merit of the proposal.

The final decision will be taken by ANRF as per programme guidelines.
