About Post and Position
KTH is recruiting two Research Engineers for the Hultgren Laboratory, a research infrastructure supporting students, researchers, universities, research institutes and industry.
The laboratory provides advanced facilities for sample preparation, materials characterization and measurement of material properties. Although the primary focus is metallic materials, the laboratory also supports research involving ceramics, polymers, semiconductors, composites and biomaterials.
Selected candidates will perform research and educational activities while supporting the daily operation of the laboratory. Responsibilities include onboarding and training laboratory users, conducting laboratory measurements, maintaining instruments and ordering laboratory consumables. This is a full-time special fixed-term employment based in Stockholm.
Educational Qualification
Applicants should possess a BSc, MSc or higher education qualification in a relevant research subject or equivalent competence.
Candidates should demonstrate excellent English communication skills, the ability to work independently, analytical thinking, initiative and awareness of diversity and equal opportunity principles.
Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in metallic or hard materials, laboratory techniques, microstructure characterization using SEM or EBSD, mechanical testing experience, laboratory safety knowledge and Swedish language proficiency.
Roles and Responsibilities
The selected Research Engineer will support research projects and educational activities conducted at the Hultgren Laboratory.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting laboratory operations and experimental activities.
- Training new laboratory users.
- Performing laboratory measurements and characterization.
- Maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Managing laboratory consumables.
- Assisting research and education activities related to advanced materials characterization.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should possess the required educational qualification in a relevant discipline along with strong communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Applicants with experience in laboratory techniques, materials characterization, metallic materials research, risk assessment and laboratory safety procedures will be preferred.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
