About the Position

UTP is seeking a qualified candidate for the Research Laboratory Operations Coordinator position. The selected candidate will coordinate, supervise, and execute research laboratory operational activities while ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.

The position supports effective laboratory operations and services for research activities by maintaining laboratory standards, overseeing safety programs, coordinating equipment maintenance, and ensuring research facilities remain operational and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Compliance Management

• Coordinate and supervise research activities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Lead laboratory HSE programs.
• Maintain quality assurance standards.
• Support governance and compliance management initiatives.

Laboratory Operations & Services

• Coordinate laboratory safety and standardization activities.
• Provide guidance on research experiments and risk assessments.
• Support laboratory space planning.
• Coordinate maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Laboratory Asset & Materials Management

• Monitor equipment availability and inventory.
• Coordinate consumables and laboratory supplies.
• Support research centres with laboratory operational requirements.
• Maintain conducive research environments.

Health, Safety and Ethics

• Promote compliance with HSE policies and Codes of Conduct & Business Ethics (COBE).
• Support workplace safety initiatives.
• Implement mitigation programs to ensure safe laboratory operations.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants who meet the following criteria may apply:

• Recognised Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience in chemical or environmental laboratories.
• Knowledge of chemical processes, water quality analysis, or water/sludge treatment.
• Knowledge of QE/5S practices, risk assessment tools, and scheduled waste management is an added advantage.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
