About the Institution

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is one of India's oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education. Established in 1847 as the Thomason College of Civil Engineering, it was granted IIT status in 2001 and has since emerged as a leading center for engineering, technology, science, management, and research. The institute is recognized globally for its academic excellence, cutting-edge research, innovation ecosystem, and strong industry collaborations.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at IIT Roorkee is actively engaged in advanced research in semiconductor devices, communication systems, machine learning, signal processing, VLSI design, and emerging technologies. The department regularly undertakes sponsored research projects funded by national and international agencies.

About the Recruitment

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, IIT Roorkee, invites applications from motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) sponsored research project. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in semiconductor device modeling, artificial intelligence, scientific machine learning, and advanced electronics research.

The appointment is purely temporary and project-based; however, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a highly research-oriented environment under the guidance of experienced faculty members and researchers.

Project Details

The selected candidate will work on the research project titled:

"Physics Informed Neural Operators (PINO): A Scientific Machine Learning Approach for the Extremely Fast First-Principles Monte Carlo Analysis of Nanoscale FETs."

The project aims to develop advanced physics-informed machine learning frameworks capable of accurately modeling and simulating next-generation nanoscale semiconductor devices. The research combines semiconductor physics, computational modeling, and artificial intelligence to improve the speed and efficiency of transistor analysis.

The project is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) and is led by Dr. Sourajeet Roy, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, IIT Roorkee.
