ISRO Scientist/Engineer 'SC' Recruitment 2026

A total of 176 Scientist/Engineer 'SC' positions are available across ISRO and its autonomous body Physical Research Laboratory (PRL).

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Scientist/Engineer 'SC' posts must possess a B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree in the relevant engineering discipline.

The required disciplines are:

Electronics – Post Code BE001 / BE001A

B.E./B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics & Communication Engineering.

Mechanical – Post Code BE002 / BE002A

E./B.Tech or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

Computer Science – Post Code BE003 / BE003A

B.E./B.Tech or equivalent in Computer Science Engineering.

Candidates must have secured a minimum of 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10 in the qualifying degree, as prescribed in the notification.

Pay Level: Level 10 of the Pay Matrix

Minimum Basic Pay: ₹56,100 per month

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates will be eligible for applicable allowances such as:

• Dearness Allowance (DA)
• House Rent Allowance (HRA)
• Transport Allowance
• Other admissible benefits as per Government of India rules

Age Limit

The upper age limit is:

28 years as on 16 September 2026

Age relaxation will be applicable to eligible candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other categories according to Government of India rules.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to make an initial payment of ₹750.

The fee structure includes:

Application Fee: ₹250

Processing Fee: ₹750 initially payable

The ₹750 payment is subject to the refund provisions mentioned in the official notification.

Fee Refund

Candidates who appear for the Written Test/CBT will be eligible for refund as per the prescribed rules.

Women / SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen candidates:

 Full refund of ₹750

Other candidates:

₹500 refund, after deduction of the ₹250 application fee.

The refund will be processed according to the conditions specified by ISRO.

Selection Process

The selection process consists primarily of a Written Test/Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by an Interview.

Stage 1: Written Test / CBT

The written examination consists of two parts.

Part A – Discipline-Specific Test

• 80 Multiple Choice Questions
• 80 Marks
• Duration: 90 Minutes
• +1 mark for every correct answer
• -1/3 mark for every incorrect answer

Part B – Aptitude/Ability Test

• 15 Multiple Choice Questions
• 20 Marks
• Duration: 30 Minutes
• No negative marking

Written Test Qualifying Criteria

Candidates must achieve the prescribed qualifying marks in each part of the written test.

• Unreserved candidates: Minimum 50% in each part
• PwBD candidates: Minimum 40% in each part

Candidates meeting the required criteria will be considered for interview shortlisting.

Interview

Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview in approximately a 1:5 ratio based on their performance in the written test.

The interview assesses candidates across several areas:

• Technical Knowledge: 40 marks
• General Awareness: 20 marks
• Presentation & Communication: 20 marks
• Comprehension: 10 marks
• Academic Achievements / Performance: 10 marks

Total Interview Marks: 100

Final Selection

The final empanelment will be prepared using:

50% Written Test Marks + 50% Interview Marks
