About the Position

The Sport Department is seeking a dynamic Participation Manager to lead and enhance participation programmes that encourage students and staff to engage in physical activity and recreational sports. The successful candidate will oversee sport initiatives, fitness programmes, social sport events, children's activities, and staff wellbeing initiatives while managing operational planning, budgets, partnerships, and programme delivery.

The position involves supervising full-time and part-time staff, ensuring excellent participant experiences, coordinating marketing and promotional campaigns, monitoring programme performance, and working closely with university departments and external partners to expand recreational opportunities across campus.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead participation and recreational sport programmes.
  • Manage sport development projects and operational planning.
  • Supervise sport staff, coaches, instructors, and student assistants.
  • Plan and deliver fitness, social sport, children's, and wellbeing programmes.
  • Develop annual participation strategies and budgets.
  • Coordinate marketing campaigns and participant engagement.
  • Build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor programme performance and prepare management reports.
  • Ensure health, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Improve student engagement through innovative recreational initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Sport, Sport Management, Sport Development, Physical Education, or related discipline.
  • Professional experience managing sports participation or recreation programmes.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and operational activities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to analyze programme performance using digital systems.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Experience within higher education or university sport is desirable.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: RMB 276,825 – RMB 333,565 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience).
