About the Position

Honda Research Institute USA is seeking a highly motivated researcher to join its Quantum Technology Group. The position focuses on the development of advanced NV-diamond quantum magnetometers for battery health monitoring, magnetic imaging, and battery manufacturing inspection.

The successful candidate will collaborate with academic and industrial partners while contributing to broader research programs in quantum materials and emergent quantum phenomena.

Major Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Assemble and develop NV-diamond quantum magnetometer systems
Develop scalable sensing concepts using quantum sensor networks
Work on microwave/RF electronics and optical systems
Integrate sensors and data acquisition platforms
Develop next-generation cavity-enhanced quantum sensors
Conduct research on quantum materials and quantum phenomena
Collaborate with external research partners and industry experts

Essential Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Quantum Engineering, Materials Science, or related disciplines.
  • Strong background in Quantum Physics or Quantum Technologies.
  • Experimental experience in at least one of the following:
    • Quantum Sensing
    • Optics / Photonics
    • Microwave / RF Electronics
    • Cryogenics
    • Condensed Matter Physics
  • Programming experience with:
    • Python
    • MATLAB
    • LabVIEW
    • Similar scientific computing tools
  • Strong interest in both applied quantum technologies and fundamental quantum science.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with any of the following will receive preference:

  • Experience with NV-diamond magnetometry or ODMR systems.
  • Experience with quantum hardware development.
  • Experimental condensed matter physics experience.
  • Knowledge of microwave electronics and photonic systems.
  • Experience with sensor technologies.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Graphene
    • Moiré Materials
    • Superconductivity
    • Quantum Materials Research
