IIT Bombay – Internship Project on Quantum Sensing for Biomedical Applications (2026)

Overview

About Organization

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) is one of India’s premier institutions for science and technology research. The Institute’s Research & Development Cell hosts cutting‑edge projects across physics, engineering, and biomedical sciences.

Project Details

Project Title: Exploring Quantum Sensing for Biomedical Application Principal Investigator: Hari M. Varma Duration: 6 months Objective: To explore quantum sensing methods to enhance sensitivity in biomedical imaging, particularly blood flow sensing in tissue where classical light‑based methods suffer from diffusion and low signal‑to‑noise ratio. Expected Outcomes: Exploratory results demonstrating improved sensitivity of classical sensing via quantum methods. Learning Outcomes for Interns: Exposure to quantum sensing techniques, biomedical optics, and coding for experimental data analysis.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Degrees: Second year of Master’s program OR third/fourth year of Bachelor’s program.

  • Disciplines: Physics, Optics, Engineering (Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Biomedical), Photonics.
