About the Organization

The High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL) is one of the premier laboratories of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Located in Pune, Maharashtra, HEMRL is engaged in advanced research and development in the fields of propellants, explosives, pyrotechnics, energetic materials, polymers, combustion science, and defence technologies.

The laboratory offers students an opportunity to work alongside experienced scientists and researchers on cutting-edge defence projects, helping them gain practical exposure to real-world research and innovation.

Internship Overview

The DRDO HEMRL Paid Internship Programme is designed to provide practical research experience to eligible engineering and science students pursuing their degree programs. Interns will participate in ongoing defence research projects under the guidance of DRDO scientists.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be an Indian citizen.
• Be pursuing a full-time Engineering UG, Engineering PG, or Science PG programme from a recognized institution.
• Engineering UG students should be in the 7th or 8th semester.
• Engineering PG and Science PG students should be in the 1st or 2nd year.
• Meet the academic eligibility criteria specified in the official notification.
• Submit a recommendation letter from the Head of Department/Institution, along with other required documents.

• Monthly stipend of ₹5,000.
• Hands-on experience in defence research and technology.
